The bridge was opened in 2012, and has quickly become a popular tourist destination. It is a challenging hike to reach the bridge, if you choose hiking, but the views from the top are well worth the effort.

The Sigriswil Panorama Bridge connects Sigriswil and Aeschlen on both sides of the Gummischlucht Gorge. This all-metal suspension bridge is 340m long and approximately 180m above the ground, offering spectacular views of the Bernese Alps. As part of the “Panorama Rundweg Thunersee” project, this suspension bridge significantly shortens the hiking distance between the gorges and links with other suspension bridges along the hiking trail around Lake Thun. The Panorama Bridge officially opened on October 14, 2012.

It is about a 40-minute drive from Interlaken, or a 2-hour drive from Zurich.
How to get to Sigriswil Panorama Bridge
Reaching the Sigriswil Panorama Bridge is a delightful journey in itself. There are a few ways to get to the Sigriswil Panorama Bridge. You can drive, take a bus, or hike.
- By car: It takes about 30-40 minutes to drive from Interlaken to Sigriswil. The route passes through mountain roads, but it is not too dangerous or difficult to drive. The roads are not narrow, but being mountainous, some parts are quite winding. The scenery along the way is excellent; besides the view of Lake Thun, you will pass several small villages with traditional typical Swiss houses – truly Swiss! Near the entrance to the suspension bridge on the Sigriswil side, there is a parking lot, so there is no need to worry about parking.
- By bus: From the town of Thun, take bus number 22 to Sigriswil, and the journey takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the station and get off the bus, the Panorama Bridge is located near the bus stop. Alternatively, you can take PostBus 25, which runs between Interlaken Ost and Sigriswil Dorf.
- By hiking: If you are hiking, there are a few trails that lead to the bridge. The most popular trail is the Panorama Rundweg, which is a 65-kilometer loop that starts in Aeschlen.
What to see and expect in Sigriswil Panorama Bridge
Ever since becoming a filming location for K-drama “Crash Landing on You”, Sigriswil Panorama Bridge has become increasingly famous among foreign visitors. Crossing the bridge is not free. The fee for crossing is CHF8 (children can cross for free). Some online sources state that there would be a staff at the entrance collecting fees, but on the day of our visit, we did not see any administrators collecting fees, only a coin box. This is a system of honesty.
The Sigriswil Panorama Bridge is a truly unique experience. The bridge is suspended 180 meters above the ground, and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
The suspension bridge spans directly above the gorge, and individuals with severe acrophobia may not find it suitable. However, we emphasise that the bridge itself feels very secure. As you reach the middle of the bridge, the scenery opens up, with deep blue lake and expansive snow-capped mountains on the left, and lush greenery of the gorge with scattered wooden houses on the right. If you are not afraid of heights, you can look down and see the stream flowing through the valley.
The other end of the suspension bridge leads to the Aeschlen area. Walking along the exit path of the bridge, you will reach a grassy area by the lakeshore, where you can find Hotel Panorama. From here, you can choose different hiking routes: you can stay in Aeschlen and hike up the mountains, or you can take the lakeside route for a circular hike around the lake.
One thing is for certain, regardless of which route you choose, you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains and the lake.
